At location #3, restrooms can be found inside Walgreens or one of the fast food places. None within walking distance at location #1 and #2. All are less than a 10 minute car-ride apart from each other. Not a must-have – since the airport is not that big, technically, all locations can be reached by bicycle – but certainly more convenient. There are also talks, that UPS is going to expand its existing facility and that FedEx wants to build a logistics center to establish the airport as a major freight hub for the area. Furthermore, American Airlines is planning to set up a maintenance shop for its subsidiary PSA Airlines. The first customer under contract is UPS, which sends its 757s there for full MRO. In June 2018 a major independent aircraft maintenance facility was opened (VT Mobile Aerospace Engineering). The airport has plans in place to aggressively expand over the next few years and manifest its leading position in the area. Besides the “big guys” there is a lot of General Aviation traffic (especially on the weekends) as a flying club and a flight training facility are based at PNS. In 2018 Frontier Airlines started operating flights from/to Denver (DEN) and Chicago (ORD) respectively. The airport is also a gateway for southern Alabama.Ĭurrent regulars at PNS are Delta, American, Boutique Air, United, Southwest Airlines, UPS Airlines and Silver Airways.
Walton Beach Airport in Valparaiso (VPS/KVPS) and Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport near Panama City (ECP/KECP) – serving the Emerald Coast of the Florida panhandle. Right next door to that is Sidelines which is a pretty good place to eat too.In terms of passengers served and cargo handled (2017) Pensacola International Airport (PNS/KPNS) is the number one among the three major airports – the other two are Destin-Ft. There's a mini golf place close to your hotel too if you're interested. Flounder's is right next door to the Boardwalk which is where you'll find more restaurants and shops. You can walk to Flounder's but you'll have to take the trolley or drive to Peg Leg's. Both have outside play areas for them (in the sand of course!). Two really great places to take the kids for dinner is Flounder's and Peg Leg Pete's. There's a good bagel place in that shopping area too. On your way there, you'll pass another shopping area which has a huge beach gear store. You can easily walk from your hotel to the main part of the Beach. Other stuff too that I just can't remember off the top of my head.
Paddy O'Leary's Irish Pub is there as well as a pizza place and a Subway. Right across the street is a collection of shops, liquor store, laundromat, and a couple of restaurants. If that's the case, then getting over the Bay Bridge will take a while.
It's definitely an easy drive unless you're traveling during the afternoon rush hour. I would say it is less than 30 minutes from the airport to the Beach.
